The Harlaxton Quarry has a unique stone deposit containing a columnar basalt that is hundreds of meters thick. The basalt is believed to have emanated from the Glasshouse Mountains and Mount Warning between 17-27 million years ago.
A key feature of the Harlaxton deposit is the basalt which is of a coarse grain type with non-polishing features. This allows it to be used in high traffic areas on road friction courses. From this stone reserve Quarry Products in Toowoomba specialises in the production of a range of quality roadbase materials, aggregates and crusher dust materials for use throughout the construction and building industries.
